![]()
Developed to aid orphans and other vulnerable children of pre-school age in Nairobi, Kenya, Tenderfeet Education Center focuses on creating a positive environment for children. The center was founded and is directed by a passionate woman named Margaret whose motivation is to improve the living situation of the country in years to come.
Originally located in Kibera, the largest township in East Africa, the school was forced to move due to the unrest in early 2008. Tenderfeet is now located in Riruta, a suburb of Nairobi, currently has 25 students, and is adding more each semester. Although the location has changed the passion of Tenderfeet is very much alive.
The recent unrest has caused much suffering in the area of Kibera. The Collette Foundation is continuing to support scholarships for the students left behind in Kibera, ensuring that they have an adequate education. The foundation will follow our 20 students through to primary school.

February 2008: Funding was approved to provide scholarships to the 32 children in Kibera in order for them to attend a private school.
January 2008: Due to the unrest, Mama Margaret was forced to leave Kibera. The Collette Foundation supported her in the opening of the new Tenderfeet Center in Riruta, just five miles from Kibera. The unrest separated many families, and Mama Margaret was forced to leave behind 20 of her students.
September 2007: Funding was approved for the purchase of land to build a new Tenderfeet Education Center in Kibera. The land plot will be large enough to build the new school and a playground for the children.
