McAdam O'Fiach

The deprived area of Belfast has been virtually isolated and suffered the worst of consequences of the prolonged conflict, both in physical and personal terms. Culturlann provides vital contributions to the social, cultural and educational needs of the community and focuses on the most valuable resource - its children.

Culturlann, McAdam O’Fiaich is an Irish language arts and community organization founded in 1991 to provide social and cultural amenities for the Belfast’s Irish language community. They promote the Irish language through the arts and produce a year round programm of events including drama, music, visual arts and literature events as well as a programme of regular classes, workshops and a choir. Their main objective is to engage children in the arts from an early age.

Culturlann is a vital building block in the development of an urban Gaeltacht quarter in West Belfast, which also provides a basis of economic regeneration.
